ULTIM to-ings and fro-ings

With Armel Le Cléac’h’s Maxi Banque Populaire IX exiting the KEROMAN Technologies yard early this week, it was over to the singlehanded round the world record holder, the Trimaran MACIF, to make her entrance! Indeed, on Wednesday 10 January, she went back to her beginnings at the very heart of the yard, which first created her in 2015, where she will benefit from a makeover. Objective: to be fighting fit to face the competition at this year’s next big event, the Route du Rhum, which will set sail from Saint Malo on 4 November 2018.

François Gabart propels the Trimaran MACIF and CDK Technologies into another dimension

The trimaran MACIF, which came out of CDK Technologies’ workshops in 2015, is continuing to take the yachting world by storm thanks to the seemingly unreal performance of her skipper François GABART, which has earned him the new Solo Round the World Record under sail (Alain Colas Trophy) with a time of 42d 16h 40m 35s, improving on the previous record set by Thomas Coville in late 2016 by nearly 7 days. A stellar achievement, especially when you consider that Thomas’ record had itself shaved nearly 8 days off the previous time and that this latest record set by François is just over one day shy of the outright Jules Verne Trophy record, secured in the hands of a crew of 5 in 2016.

Lorient: Launch of a giant of the seas

After over 135,000 man-hours, numerous meetings between Team Banque Populaire, the designers (naval architects VPLP), the number crunchers (HDS/Gsea Design), and the design office and teams from CDK and Keroman Technologies, the Maxi Banque Populaire IX was launched on 30 October in front of the Keroman Technologies yard in Lorient. The 32-metre Ultimate trimaran (a new generation of maxi multihulls designed for singlehanded racing) is making for her port of registry, Lorient La Base, before beginning a series of sea trials.

Port La Forêt: The foiling CIELA VILLAGE

After 10 months of intensive work, numerous meetings between Thierry Bouchard’s Ciela Village Team, naval architects VPLP, the number crunchers HDS/Gsea Design and the CDK Technologies design office, the Ciela Village trimaran was launched today, 4 October, in Port-la-Forêt, Brittany. This 15-metre MULTI 50 trimaran will now begin her first sea trials in the Baie de la Forêt with a view to competing in the upcoming Transat Jacques Vabre.

The Bridge race the winner : Macif

A third victory for Macif! (Fourth including the Armen Race in May 2017)

Having won the Transat Jacques Vabre (2015) double-handed with Pascal Bidegorry and The Transat (2016) singlehanded, François Gabart has now won The Bridge in crewed configuration!

Leading since the start, François and his crew left nothing to chance, getting the best possible potential out of their trimaran Macif. Indeed, they were able to make the most of her ease in the transition zones to contain their adversaries, and IDEC in particular, also at ease in these conditions, and Sodebo, right back in the game after a tough start to the race, but ultimately handicapped by a broken rudder after colliding with a UFO.

They were able to put pedal to the metal just when required, nicely balanced flying a hull… and in the end they crossed the line with a lead of over 125 miles in relation to their rivals.

CDK Technologies secures its 4th victory in 8 editions of the Vendée Globe thanks to Armel Le Cléac’h and BANQUE POPULAIRE!

Starting off its campaign in the ORMA class (construction of BANQUE POPULAIRE II in 2002), the collaboration between CDK Technologies and the BANQUE POPULAIRE team has been steadily reinforced over time. Indeed, all the team’s new boats that have been built since the maxi trimaran BANQUE POPULAIRE V have been undertaken by CDK Technologies. This long journey together has been all the more significant because it has evolved in unison with CDK Technologies. Indeed, construction of the Keroman Technologies site to enable the construction of BANQUE POPULAIRE V in Lorient ties in with the yard’s desire to support its clients in its most extreme challenges.
