Transat Jacques Vabre: twelve boats kitted up with CDK Technologies’ expertise!

Created back in 1993 and run biennially, this legendary race enables some of the big names in sailing, together with amateur sailors, to take on the historic trading routes for coffee, from France to South America or, as is the case this year, to the West Indies. For this 2021 vintage, as per usual, there are a number of pretenders to victory. Twelve of them (three in Ultim, seven in IMOCA and two in Ocean Fifty) have one thing in common: they benefit from both the experience and expertise of the CDK Technologies yard, a specialist in the construction of prototype yachts, whose productions have pretty much systematically made a clean sweep of the prizes in the most prestigious offshore races for the past 35 years and more.

A new step for the sailing cruise ship project!

The 38-metre-high demonstrator mast, a freestanding rotating rig equipped with a solid 550 m2 composite sail, was stepped at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire on Thursday.
CDK Technologies is very proud to be a part of this manufacturing adventure, which is shaping the future of tomorrow’s cruise ships. For this first stage of the project, the yard has built half of one of the two sections that make up the mast, in association with the Lorient-based companies Avel Robotic, Lorima, Multiplast and SMM.
This demonstrator model represents the top section of one of the three rigs which, by 2025, will equip a new generation of Silenseas vessels, which are designed to complete a sea passage using 30% less fuel.
The Solid Sail and Silenseas sailing cruise ship are concepts developed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique.

ROLEX FASNET Winner APIVIA in the IMOCA class

An exceptional example of an extraordinary boat paired up with a hugely talented crew has been the combination of Apivia with doublehanders Charlie Dalin and Paul Meilhat competing in this 49th Rolex Fastnet Race. They arrived in Cherbourg early this morning scoring a resounding win in the 13-strong IMOCA fleet. This came as some small vindication after Dalin suffered victory slipping through his fingers in this year’s Vendée Globe after he was first home only to lose the top prize when Yannick Bestaven and Maître CoQ were awarded a time compensation.

SVR-LAZARTIGUE TRIMARAN

Boasting over 35 years’ experience and leading the way in the offshore racing domain, today CDK Technologies is equipped with the very latest state-of-the-art tooling, enabling the yard to produce high-performance composite parts. As such, it was only natural that when François Gabart and MerConcept launched this new trimaran project, they decided to call upon the Breton yard’s experience and expertise for the manufacture of the boat’s main elements, namely the floats, the forward and aft beams and the foils. By taking on the build of the SVR LAZARTIGUE trimaran, these elements are set to be manufactured at the yard’s two sites, in Port-la-Forêt and Lorient, which are equipped with some of the largest autoclaves in Europe. Due to launch on Thursday 22 July, this exceptional boat breaks the codes in terms of current technologies and it is no exaggeration to say that she’s a machine from a whole other era.
